Electra Mining Africa is driven by a powerful motivator: to be the ultimate meeting and market place for all stakeholders involved in the mining, construction, industrial and power generation industries.

Since it’s inception more than 40 years ago, Electra Mining Africa has grown from its embryonic beginnings so dramatically that it has truly earned its place on the international calendar as the second largest mining show in the world and is recognised as a gateway into Africa for local and global investors.

In 2008, Electra Mining Africa again broke all records attracting over 41,000 high quality visitors eager to meet with over 650 local and international exhibitors occupying more than 35,000m² of space across Halls 5,6,7,8,9 and 10 plus outside areas. Exhibitor space was sold out months ahead of the 2008 show.

Innovative describes this show. A show that continually reinvents itself, building on the successes of previous shows. A show that holds industry forums to find out what exhibitors and visitors want to do differently, and introducing changes to meet industry needs. In 2010, a NEW Transport Expo has been launched, focussing on products and solutions for the trucking, transport and logistics industries.

The Electra Mining Africa brand changed to reflect its modern and innovative approach, with a new ‘look and feel’ to embrace changing markets and design trends whilst maintaining the global identity and reputation of the brand.

The 2008 show saw Government’s Mining Week and Mining Summit running concurrently with Electra Mining Africa for the third show in succession, confirming the continued full support and endorsement that the show has from the Department of Minerals and Energy. The South African Capital Equipment Export Council has also organised inward buying missions over the last three shows, which promotes the buying of mining and capital equipment internationally.

A ‘meet the buyer’ campaign was introduced for the first time at the 2008 show, providing a sophisticated meeting service that matched the needs of visitors and exhibitors. All exhibitor profiles were captured pre-event on an easy-to-search database system, and visitor profiles were matched to these, enabling pre-set up of business meetings: saving time, and ensuring best value meetings. Many more innovative ideas are scheduled for Electra Mining Africa 2010 – the year of the World Cup Soccer in Africa!

Across Electra Mining Africa, Elenex Africa and Machine Tools Africa, valuable business connections are made, high sales volumes enjoyed, and many excellent sales leads secured.
