Channel O Africa Music Video Awards back for the 11th time
On 29 November, the JEC played host to the prestigious Channel O Africa Music Video Awards for a record-breaking 11th time.
Having been hosted in Johannesburg for more than a decade, the Channel O Africa Music Video Awards this year were held at JEC and have been instrumental in improving the quality of music videos produced across the African continent. The production quality of the Awards Ceremony itself has also been elevated, produced as a made-for-TV special by Glenn van Loggerenberg and Don’t Look Down TV.
The versatility of the JEC venue enabled this year’s theme, featuring cars and racing, to be executed with style as artists and performers were driven on stage in a range of vehicles. “We are pleased to inform you that our event was a great success and JEC’s participation contributed to the success of this event,” says Glenn van Loggerenberg, executive producer for Don’t Look Down Productions.
South Africa’s very own Cassper Nyovest received three awards, including best music video of the year, most gifted male and most gifted Southern Africa music video. 90s South African kwaito group, Boom Shaka was also honoured with their very first industry award.
